A delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) met with the Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pekka Haavisto, at the Foreign Ministry building in the capital Helsinki, where they discussed advance the political process in the course of settling the Syrian crisis in accordance with international resolutions and role of the Republic of Finland in this direction.
Yesterday, Saturday the Finnish Foreign Minister, Mr. Pekka Haavisto, received the delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council at the Foreign Ministry building in the capital, where they discussed ways of a political settlement of the Syrian crisis and many other bilateral files.
According to the official website of the Syrian Democratic Council, the SDC delegation included the head of the executive body, Ilham Ahmed, and Jihad Omar, the co-chair of the Local Administrations and Environment Authority in the Autonomous Administration of NES.
The Finnish Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to NES across borders and the comprehensive distribution of aid over the entire Syrian geography.Among the files discussed by the two sides are; The file of the practices of Turkey and its affiliated mercenaries in the occupied areas and their threat to the lives of the population in north and east Syria by cutting off water and the flow of the Euphrates River of more than a million people , where Minister Haavisto stressed the need for the United Nations to move in this file.
The two sides reviewed of the model AANES, in which the Finnish Foreign Minister expressed his country’s admiration for the progress achieved by this part of Syria, specifically in the field of openness to the role of women, and empower them in all fields.
The education sector and teaching curricula in the Autonomous Administration got an area of discussion in the meeting that brought together (MSD) at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed ways of developing the educational sector in NES, leading to official recognition of the present curricula by the international education institutions.
The Republic of Finland is one of the countries interested in the file of combating terrorism, addressing its effects and supporting stability in NES. Worth mentioning that a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Envoy Yossi Tanner, visited north and east Syria in December 2020, during which he met (MSD) and officials of the Relations Department in the Autonomous Administration.
