Mehmud Sengavi, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Executive Board Member and Germiyan Region Peshmerga Forces Commander: “Even if the world collapses, I will not fire a single bullet at the PKK.”

As Turkey continues operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Iraqi Kurdistan, the political position of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is widely criticized by other Kurdish parties.

Kurds are condemning the KDP for its continuing silence regarding Turkey’s attacks, and there are warnings concerning the danger of a civil war between Kurds.

Mehmud Sengavi, PUK Executive Board Member and Germiyan Region Peshmerga Forces Commander, said that he is totally against a Kurdish civil war.

Making a short speech on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Heme Sengeri, a member of the force known Dêrin peshmerga, Mehmud Sengavi said that they consider war against the guerrilla haram (a sin in Islam).

“We should all take to the streets and prevent fratricide between the Kurds.
We must condemn war against the PKK. At a time like this, war against the PKK is death for our people.” he said.

Another criticism came from Xwedêda Reşid, Secretary General of the Iraqi Communist Party in the city of Behzani in Nineveh province. He stated that Turkey had increased its attacks, taking advantage of conflicts in the region.

Reşid pointed out that Turkish military bases in Iraq and Southern Kurdistan pose a great threat.

“Turkey has repeatedly attacked Southern Kurdistan and Iraq, carrying out massacres of Kurds.” he said.

He called both the Iraqi and the Iraqi Kurdistan governments to stop Turkey.
